Let’s talk WATER 💧
Hard water… have you heard this term around the Central Coast? I require each and every one of my clients to have a hard water filter before booking with me. If a client waits 2-4 months before coming to me and they have hard water build up in there hair at time of appointment, unfortunately I will turn them down. It may seem harsh, but in the hair world it’s an extremely serious thing that stylists and clients need to pay more attention too. Hard water has an extremely high mineral content. Chlorine, calcium, limestone, chalk, magnesium, and iron are being packed onto the hair.
Your hair will feel extremely damaged, dry, brittle, frizzy, and have a orange/green tint to it.
Hard water will even cause breakage throughout your hair, so if you are doing lightening/color services where you are already compromising your hair, when the cuticle is blown open from lightener, hard water will pack itself right inside the molecule and make your hair snap right off. The minerals from the water crystallize on your scalp and make your hair feel brittle and dry. That build up if bad enough can cause infections/yeast on the scalp as well.
Hard water is notorious for ruining hair color, it can dull and discolor the hair while damaging it altogether.
The water can change and get worse between each town from South county to North County, if you are on a well then the water is extremely bad.
There are many hard water filters online, and many ways that you can take care of your hair. Invest in your hair queens ❤️
